Jump scares are entertaining, but it's so easy to use them to mask a poor film, and horror is so much more than getting the chance to flinch every few seconds. The Conjuring films have relied heavily on a good story, realistic characters, and an engaging atmosphere. It's the pervasive eeriness and slow unfolding of events that really make the film worth the watch. I was worried about this at first, being a sequel and all, but this is just as good as the first one. Amazing cinematography and editing make all the difference!

A typical and old-fashioned story of a haunting, but carefully and lovingly executed, with nods to 70s and 80s horror. Proves that you don't always need a complicated idea, you just have to know how to make a simple idea into a great movie.

This movie shows us how stupid this witch hunt that is taking place truly is, yes pedo bear is somewhere in the wild. Yes, he needs to be hunted down, but he's not hiding behind every bush or hiding under every car in suburbia. It reminds me of another witch hunt that took place 23/25 years ago. The repressed memory hunt that destroyed countless people lives and 80% of the time it was a lie spoiler. Moral of the movie: ffuk society and when you see a child alone in the supermarket parking lot, turn around and go the other way.
1/10 one of the worst notes I've given to a movie, and the one 1 goes for the good acting of Mikk.

Am I the only one that thought EVERY person in the movie aside from Mikkelson and his son were complete retards?! spoilerOver the top and poorly written characters. Sorry, but this movie is laughably bad.

You've both blatantly ignored the film's message. Not liking it because the characters are idiots? That's just ridiculous. They're supposed to be like that. Whenever a witch hunt like this occurs, people act over the top and ignore the facts. There are always two sides of the story and everything isn't necessarily what it seems. So yeah, Dawizz, witch hunts are always stupid. The point of your 1/10 rating?

Good movie with great performances but also with some rather ridiculous moments/flaws. E.g. the lines "Children don't lie!" and "We asked our childrens and all of them had nightmares" had the whole cinema laughing.

The people were probably laughing, because everyone knows children DO lie, especially if they are asked leading questions. Obviously, those moments aren't flaws of the movie, but they show the idiocy of human beings.

Wikipedia says Topsy the elephant was executed for killing her trainer, James Fielding Blount.

Blount was a spectator. An idiot who decided to harass the elephants, and when Topsy lashed out, the circus was probably just glad that the incident drew more crowds to see the killer elephant Topsy. When another attack occurred, Topsy was sold and its handler William Alt followed. Alt proved to be an utter ass (one time he stabbed the elephant with a pitchfork) and was eventually fired. The owners tried to get rid of Topsy, but no one wanted her so she was executed. There was an admission fee, which just goes to show that Topsy was used for money and publicity right up until the end.

An interesting, albeit sad, case of animal abuse, and one would hope that the situation has changed. Unfortunately, there are still elephant "shelters" where they are paraded in front of flock of tourists and beaten and tortured.
