Extremely enjoyable musical scenes and some great humour from Rebel Wilson, but was I the only one who spotted the glaringly predictable and borderline offensive stereotypes? Quirky fish eating Asian...Butch black lesbian...Girl whose status as 'quirky' seems to stem entirely from the fact she has a few extra piercings...Yawn. Just a small pinch of originality and characters I haven't seen before is all I'm asking here.
Absolutely blown away by this film! Had very low expectations, but was really surprised how ungeneric a teen movie it was and the gritty, uncomfortable issues it dealt with. Amazing turns by Ezra Miller and Logan Lehrman also.
Way better than expected..I found it a surprisingly realistic and relatable look at the merit of lies and how happy relationships are built on ignorance. Great acting all round too, particularly from Julia Roberts and Clive Owen.
Basically agree with the general consensus: visually absolutely stunning but plot was predictable and unoriginal with none of the usual Pixar flair. Feels more Dreamworks than Pixar quality, although if it was Dreamworks we would judge it by much lower standards, and lavish a lot more praise on it. It's most definitely a film for kids, unlike the other Pixar films, which are equally or more (Wall-e) riveting for adults.
One of the most visually stunning films I have ever seen, almost too much deliciousness to bear. Wonderful fight sequences too, but watch for those two factors, nothing else.
Slightly lacklustre ending but still somehow managed to live up to incredibly high expectations...Excellent characterisation for such a big ensemble cast too. Standout is Tom Hiddleston, if he makes some good career choices he will go far!
A wholly underrated film, it should have got the kind of exposure Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead, Super 8 received, because it is every bit as good. For the first three quarters of the film not one scenario ended as I expected - I was kept guessing the whole way along. It also managed to be funny while maintaining a high level of suspense, which is no mean feat. Can appreciate that this would not be appealing to those non British/under 30 though
