I can't remember why I disliked this movie so much on first watching... Sure it's a bit rushed (but so is every Harry Potter movie, and everyone seems to like them), and maybe a tad too whimsical compared to the books.
But you know what, after ten years of everything being dull and gritty, I'm GLAD to see a little bit of joy and whimsy on screen for once. Designs are pretty, actors good, characterisation efficient. Honestly, let's give that movie a break.
The movie doesn't exactly live up to its premise and the romance is corny and contrieved, but the interesting concept and solid performances by every one involve make it a pleasant watch nonetheless.
