First feature-length film made by a woman in Portugal. It was part of the 1st Cannes Film Festival. The film is considered lost, but 26 mins were recovered and restored by the Portuguese Cinématheque without sound. It is all that survives.
This was beyond words, one of the worst films I've ever seen. It had nothing rescuable. It was straight out alt-right christian propaganda, more than opportunism or an idea gone wrong.
Never expected something so horrible from a director that is solid as Eastwood.
This movie is so dull, specially comparing it to his other films. There nothing special nor original. The photography's been done before...
the story was only a copy of other films. It was basically Funny Games with Sophie's Choice with a touch of those jealous lovers who want to kill the lover's family,
together with references of a bunch of other films.
While a bit melodramatic, it is a wonderful portrayal of jealousy and it's downfall to madness. The acting by Arturo de Cordova is a bit over the top, but Delia Garces is wonderful as Gloria. I found it really interesting that I thought that it was very Hitchcock-ish while watching it, but I thought Bunuel had copied Hitchcock not the other way around.
Sooooo much potential. If it had a bit more money, it would have made a very solid, interesting movie. As is, it is filled with great moments, but it's overlong and has horrendous acting and bad camera work.
Very middle of the road Woody Allen film. The only things that made it good were the photography, production design, costume design, all the art stuff. Aesthetically it's a wonderful film, but otherwise, it is just mediocre.
Good movie. It had some amazing elements like the cinematography, the acting of the mom and the concept, but it failed miserably in other things like the acting of the kids and the predictable ending.
<You could tell about one of the twins not existing since the first time the mom came into the picture. I thought that was on purpose and kept trying to find an alternate answer.>
Charlotte Rampling is amazing in her performance. The nuances in her emotions and how she shows them. I could feel everything she was feeling. She definitively deserves an Oscar nominee.
WTF I know it was its aesthetic but it was sooooooo overacted and poorly written. The screenplay was so exaggerated. Scenes were cartoons, basically. The art direction, photography, cinematography were beautiful but not enought to salvage the film.
I guess this is a love it or hate it movie. I had heard amazing things from reviews but wasn't expecting much. The movie itself is pretty basic but it is so very well made. I loved this film. I found it one of the best scary movies I've seen in a long time. I still can not get my head around all of it. The ending, the ending. All around WTF

Wonderful documentary, but I have to say that JR seems like an a-hole. He's one of these hipster, so called artists, that are full of themselves.Movie comment on The Killing of a Sacred Deer
