Dated and silly. John Wayne's character is very unlikable. He is not a flawed character a la Travis Bickle, he is just a douche. And why did Debbie suddenly changed her mind and wanted to go back with Ethan and Martin?

Great cinematoraphy and composition. Poor acting, plot, and dialogue.. Did not really like this one

Pretty good directorial debut from Ryan Gosling. It's highly influenced by Lynch, Winding Refn and Malick, but I don't think that's a flaw. Tarantino copies everything and is hailed as one of the best directors of his generation (I also like him as a director though). Cinematography and style are stunning, just as the score (by Johnny Jewel). The one problem I have with this film, is the story. The story isn't just that spectacular. And it isn't suspenseful enough to be a real dark fairytale. I'd give it 7/10. I'm looking forward to see more from Gosling as a director, I think he has the potential to become a very good one.

Pretty solid film imo. It's not Scorsese's best, but definitely not his worst either (which is Aviator). I though the performances were above average and the soundtrack is superb! Didn't feel too long. 8/10

The performances made this movie great! I wouldn't say this is one of the best films ever made, but it has a lot of great and lovely characters that made this film a real enjoyment to watch!

What disturbed me the most in the infamous scene, is the moment a stranger walks into the passage (you see him in the background) sees what's happening, but desides not to help and go back up instead... That unknown son of a btch

I really didn't think this was a special film... I don't get the hype.

Altough the main story line is very dark and unpredictable, the "family" story line is too goofy and cartoonish. That's why it doesn't even come close to I Saw the Devil or Oldboy.

This is still my favorite movie. Everything about this film is so perfect. Each shot is meticulously crafted, each scene is so suspensefull, the symbolism is beatiful, the acting is great, the soundtrack is amazing, etc. etc. etc. Such a perfect film!

Am I the only one who found this movie quite boring? I really love Scrosese's films, but this one isn't that great. The acting was good, but the story just wasn't really interesting for me. This is my least favorite Scorsese picture.
