The movie is really visually pleasing if you are a fan of a certain cinematography and has a really good main character. Some bad dialogue here and there but a classic soundtrack by Tangerine Dreams. Cool.
The twist and the explanation comes too early into the film so the second half is certainly less compelling than the African part. But is a nice film and there's nothing better than this kind of french movies to see some hot women.
The content of this documentary is mind-blowing and incredibly inspiring. It also offers some nice insights on the consequences of this experiment on Vermeer's legacy and on the relationship between art and technology. On the last 20 minutes it suffers a bit from some very slow pace. I would definitely re-watch this!
The acting is not good and the writing is kind of bad but well within sport movies standards. The production quality is higher than the cast would suggest, probably because it's a movie with a strong foreign appeal. The story of the two Indian players is just perfect for a movie.
The animations are very good but not top-notch.. average story and dull ending. Unfortunately I saw the Italian dubbed version so the songs are translated and have ridiculously bad lyric composition.
Great set design and the rest is average. With the premise of those characters going to the war and with that cast it should have been way funnier. It's not even trying to be funny but that's not good either.
It looks great and has some interesting and funny scenes (probably scripted or staged) but watching this knowing that it won the Gold Lion I was a bit surprised by his lack of power.
A great movie, very 60s and with a very realistic quasi-romantic story. Being a young student from around Milan that is expected to go get a big boring job in the city I was sucked in from the first minute.
Being completely removed from the social context of the movie I can appreciate some of the acting and the general feel of the movie. But there's a lot of repeated situations and recaps and you basically see the same things happens to most of the characters. Nonetheless I can see why it is highly regarded and I can clearly feel the powerful Poitier presence in every scene he's in.
Emotionally, it's as heavy-handed as bad television of its time. There's a few good scenes and Goldberg is a good choice but the movie keeps getting worse and has a terrible crescendo of badly written revenge/redemption twists. Overrated.
