Seen in the restored version, a real wonder even with the unfinished parts.

the 13.26 version on youtube is a compilation of several KP with music and poor image quality. The one that seem good is from Wien Film Museum collection (on you tube too) and is only 6.43

this animated historic movie is illustrated from historic engravings and explains the history of the Commune de Paris, when in 1871, after the defeat against Germany, common people of Paris kept their weapons and build the Commune, a social Republic which established free education, free press, citizenship to foreigners, recognize free union couples and children, and a lot of social measures for the poor such as requisitions and free meals. After 72 days the Revolution has been crushed in a bloodbath by the monarchist government. On Arte TV, in French or German : https://www.arte.tv/fr/videos/094482-000-A/les-damnes-de-la-commune/

because of the end, director has seen his director status suppressed and was sent to the front. very interesting movie as it is from 1944. even if its a government command.it shows how militarism was in the minds at these times but seeing it now reveals some peculiar counterpoints and a beautiful ending. great actors too.

Seen in Paris Cinematheque, with amazing Benshi Raiko Sakamoto, and musicians Joichi Yasa (Guitare & Shamisen), Makiko Suzuki (Flute), Akiko Sugimoto (Piano). Amazing movie, unforgetable moment. The rythm of the storytelling and music, the intense voice of the benshi and a universal and a moving story. Masterpiece with great ending in addition.

Deoking adresses serious subject of corruption with a light and dynamic tone, and strangely that cocktail works perfectly, thanks to an amazing casting and filmaking. The form stays entertaining, yes, but the picture behind details a lot of society and moral problems. Great time seeing this film, I did not see the 2h15 spending.

Visually a great show, and I like the fact heroes are a real complementary couple, which is a quite rare thing. Behind the mainstream & familial blockbuster, there are some interesting thematics which are usually away from that format : Bio and societies diversity, confrontations between society high morals and the warcrimes they have done, feminism... Even, if it's just thematics, with not a lot of deepness, it's there.

Not perfect but the charm of this kind of movie of the 80s remains intact. Good story & nice casting. "Corbeau d'or" (=gold palm) at the International Fantastic Film Festival of Bruxelles 1985

This movie shows the very modern concept of the Ecologic Transition, which will be in the next years the revolution of the new century.
I guess, it's a step in my life to discover this movie, and the films from the french journalist Marie Monique Robin "qu'est ce qu'on attend ? (2016) and "les moissons du futur" (2012).
And now I am trying to think, just how I will do my part, just involve myself in the place I am living.
So believe me, you have to watch this :)
