[Spoiler Warning]
A great character developing story, about a boy named Ellis and his friend Neckbone trying to help a man nick named 'Mud'.
But the film was really about Ellis trying to find out what love is and if it can last. Ellis has three influences of love in his life, his parents who split up near the begining of the film (shattering Ellis's view of love). The second is May Pearl, who shows interest in Ellis, but eventually ignores and even mocks him because of his age. The third and final influence is Mud and his undying love for Juniper (Mud's girlfriend).
When Mud decides he can't love Juniper any more, Ellis breaks down, as it was his last piece of evidence that love can last, this is shown when he is crying and shouting at Mud.
However it isn't all bad as Ellis begins to see that there are different types of love (as the parents love for their child) and that there is always the possibility for new love, as shown at the end by the girls waving at Ellis.

Overall this was a very enjoyable and heart felt movie with a lot of care and craftsmanship gone into the writing, directing and acting, leaving me with a sense of enjoyment and fulfilment after watching.

The (Good) Gatsby, the visuals, sets and Costumes throughout the film were an excellent display of exuberant colouring and mise en scène. I can't help but see some of the corners were cut from the story and some of the characters could have been delved into a little more, however the film is already a whopping two hours and twenty three minutes long, so I feel it is a forgiveable offence by director Baz Luhrmann. I think this is the reason why people who read the book before watching the film disliked the on screen version, as its character development is unfinished and unpolished because of a lack in time made it hard to fit the whole story in a feature film.
And finally the soundtracks. The soundtrack did take me out of the flow of the film a few times, they felt very forced and did not fit almost at all into the world of Gatsby Baz Luhrmann was trying to create, I think this might have been a marketing decision to help the film appeal to a mass market rather than an actual artistic choice that would have been better for the film.
Overall the film was enjoyable, certainly more enjoyable than most big summer blockbusters and it kept the audiences and me interested throughout.
So not great, nowhere near bad, but a good cinema experience. (The Good Gatsby)

I think this film suffers from a lack of character development and deeper plot/ script.
However the visuals are brilliant throughout with a very
neo-noir vibe to the lighting combined with perfectly fitting costume design.
As far as the individual scenes go, you can tell that director Harmony Korine clearly has a talent for set pieces and tying music to them, such as the Brittany Spears scene in this film, or almost any section of Gummo.
Overall I would give this film a 7/10 as for a budget of $5m it was surprisingly well done from a visual perspective and I did enjoy about half of the film, the only thing that really ruined the flow and other half of the film was the the lack of character development, as well as no tension or twists in the plot where there was easily room for a lot, even by just tweaking some scenes in post.
I think this film was more of an art piece rather than a movie much like most of Harmony Korine's work, but I am afraid it isn't quite excelling in either category but I still enjoyed the movie so 7/10 I feel is a more than fair score.

While this film was expertly directed, acted and had a brilliant build up of tension throughout, it lacked anything deeper, however I dont feel this detracts from the film. The direct overlays of confusion mixed with fear and unknowing, were wonderfully portrayed by Darren Aronofsky, much like many of his other films. A more than enjoyable watch, but if you are looking for something with more gravitas I would say this film is almost a ballet version of fight club without delving into many deeper issues as fight club did. Although it is risky to compare two films as closely as this, I DONT CARE ITS AN INTERNET REVIEW

A very moving film, one of the most moving films I have ever seen. Showing that above all else kindness was all that mattered, above Joseph Merrick's early lack of intelligence and his deformities, kindness made him a better human than anyone else.
What a beautiful message to portray in a film.
