I can see why people love it. It's a well written story with an excellent soundtrack and a great cast. For me personally, however, it felt a little difficult to rate. I can see a huge amount of objective quality in it, but I'm not sure I'll be remembering this one. I realised at the end as the credits rolled, I forgot half the character's names. Maybe when I'm a bit older I might be able to relate better to this story, but for now it feels a little forgettable
I feel really bad for O'Houlahan. Because she's not a degenerate, she's driven mad by the misogynistic troops. After that I really didn't enjoy the subsequent jokes. It feels like Hawkeye and Trapper John are meant to be the heroes, but they're just so unlikeable
A wonderful cast of really deeply flawed characters. At once funny, sad, relatable, alien, depressing and inspiring. Very very good. Especially the Woody Allen monologue at the end.
Why did they let him out of the labor camp? He wasn't falsely imprisoned. He was caught trespassing, was told to leave quite reasonably, then physically assaulted the guy. He wasn't fully 100% at the time but that's no excuse. He did actually commit the crimes for which he was imprisoned. Why did they let him go when it turned out he was Sullivan?
Wish a winner of three Oscars was on any lists. This was a terrific film. The plot wasn't anything spectacular but the racing scenes sure were. Honestly one of the best sports movies I've seen and one of the best car racing movies ever made.
In case you're wondering, like I did, why this movie is so hard to find, given it is so old and you might assume it's in the public domain, let me clear it up. This being a French film the copyright expires 70 years after the death of the creator, and Abel Gance died in 1981, so this film will not be public domain until 2051.
Pretty slow. I can see why there's so many negative comments. I was quite bored by this one. Also struggled to root for rich, posh Cambridge boys, but that may just be me rather than the film.
The film takes a fair amount of creative liberty around the abuses Joseph Merrick faced after his admission to the hospital, but it doesn't matter. The core message is clear to all, and that's the most important thing
As someone who's spent years moderating somewhere and kinda burning out on it, I'm apprehensive, but it does sound pretty great to be able to help out. I'll have a think about it. Thanks for your service, Beavis and Lonewolf!
Took me a while to get to this. It's quite slow and takes a pretty while but it definitely touched me. After it ended I got an overwhelming urge to visit my mother. I think we can all see bits of ourselves in Ines and Winfried

I just don't get Laurel and Hardy. I'm sure loads of people love their brand of comedy but I'm not one of themShowing items 1 – 25 of 82
