The blu-ray transfer finally gets this right after failed attempts and horrible prints. The color filters are still odd, but at least they are timed correctly and don't completely overwhelm the shots.
On a personal note, Mitzi Gaynor had one of the cutest butts I've ever seen.
You'll probably only see this once, but you should see it. Belies the old adage that anti-war films are difficult to make because war is inherently exciting.
I've avoided this for years, afraid it would be schmaltzy, "Don't worry, be happy" bullshit, and now I'm sorry. If the character Chaplin played in The Great Dictator had made it to a concentration camp, this would be the movie. A lovely film that deserves all the praise it's gotten.
