I don't think this work it's great for not using CGI, puppets or CGI This work reflects such great a creativity.
And hey! Of course there are CGI's in this movie! the owl! And you can see how they had fun with it during the titles! WOOOOOSH! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!
Abusive and unnecessary CGI. Cool graphics, lame animations.
Loved the way it leaves up to you the choice of what to believe in, even after all the god-faith/science-reason speechs.
Nice, but... did you see that? the good guy was the creationist while the bad guy was the evolutionist. So this movie was all like: "Thanks for everything science but fuck you :) "
I feel relief after reading other comments complaining about the abuse of slang in the dialogues; i had some problems following to what was happening because the slang and the fact that i'm not a native english speaker, but now i see it was a common problem.
As a mexican, i always lol'd about the bad spanish talked and writed in this kind of movies,"should we ask a native spanish speaker before? fuck it!, let's googletranslate it!"
I fell, that maybe the problem with this movie is that all directors concentrated too much in their own segments and in how they would lead one to the other, but even though they do this well, i feel that all together fails as a whole unique movie, specially when every segment take their time to explain why are they recording, who are recording, and a bunch of irrelevant things that only turns the pace in a real pain.
And come on, you record all your Skype conversations, then you transfer it all from digital to VHS? fuck off.
"I recommend to all, especially David's fans, to watch this film at least seven (7) times to fully appreciate it." ho ho ho BITCHPLEASE! sorry, but you all hard-core David Lynch fans are basically a religion at this point.
Sure, great acting and story.
But sorry guys, you gotta face it: Dogme 95 was the mullet of the 90's, they feel it rad, they feel it real, but oh boy...
It is not fair or even prudent to compare this with 2001, there's only a superficial relation between them; in fact, this was a really nice watch because it poses an interesting question: in a world where human problems are solved and no one depends or needs plants anymore, why would someone would care to preserve them?
Not a masterpiece but a good sci-fi with a nice ending.
A little hippie-esque though.
