A very informative and eye-opening documentary. I have read mixed reviews and I believe the weak aftertaste arises from the fact Geyrhalter doesn't really tap into the crazy and sometimes philosophical things the interviewees reveal. I hate to use such an obvious example, but someone like Herzog would have done it so much better. Anyway, see it! I had no idea how marble is extracted.
A pleasant surprise! It could have been a lot weaker if it weren't for the great acting. There's a very fine line with this kind of humour, but this was so over the top it managed to land in the funny zone. Could have also been a fine tv show!
Watching this during the pandemic became more and more painful by the minute. I wasn't aware just how much I miss the exciting freedom of the open road.
If you watch this with headphones, the carefully designed sound design creates a very peculiar mismatch with the b&w grainy picture, that further emphasises the main theme of old vs new. And in comparison with the Lighthouse, the other b&w fish movie of it's day, I felt that this film succeeded to be more genuine while using a lot less. It didn't try too hard to be a masterpiece, and that's how it came to be one.
While it really is a well made movie, it felt like a very long pilot episode for a tv show. The chemistry between Boss and Amos combined with the tasteful jokes is something I could watch for a few seasons at least.
What a silly, charming picture! Plays out like a Donald Duck adventure, only with a hint of racism, zombies and Lugosi. If you clicked on a war time movie about zombies on Broadway, don't pretend you were expecting anything different.
We are all looking for happiness without knowing what it looks like, where to look for it and how to keep it once we find it. Sadness - it finds us, and easily.
A moment after finishing this I am sitting with a smile on my face and a warm feeling all around. All is well in this wonderful universe I am so fond of.
A fascinating look and this peculiar sporting event and the world it has created around itself. It successfully captures the urgency of it being the most important thing at the given moment.
