Loved it because I'm a massive Fincher fan, but this one felt a little different than his other work. Definitely a lot of French and other foreign film influence, in that it isn't focused on satisfying the audience with whiz bang explosions. Its pacing is one of its strongest aspects. Having read the work it is adapted from, I wonder if it would have worked better as a series, but I've always preferred Fincher when he is making movies. Could have been a bit longer, maybe, but I think it will grow even more on me over time.

Just further evidence that Martin McDonagh is one of the best writer/directors working today. This film firmly shot him into my top 10 directors of all time, although I still think I enjoy In Bruges the most. At this point, with three films under his belt, you know exactly what you're going to get with this: amazing characters that drive the plot, humor, dark meditations on fate and how we can affect it, and amazing dialogue. McDonagh has also evolved a lot as a director, with his camera capturing some truly beautiful vistas. This and Fabelmans are my favorite films of the year.

Unabashedly adore this movie. It is not "good," but it is compulsively watchable. One of my favorites!

Not sure what is wrong with me, but I absolutely loved it. I've long been a fan of James Wan, especially once he started showcasing how good of a horror director he is.

I had all the faith in the world for him in this and he absolutely did not disappoint. As had been noted to death, Aquaman is usually joked about in superhero circles because of how some of the aspects of his character are particularly goofy. Wan looked at them all and decided to lean right into them.

Seahorses contend with sharks that have laser guns on their head. A giant octopus plays war drums. Patrick Wilson screams into the camera. It's all glorious and it all works. The acting is pretty great and Wan is really coming into his own as an action director. The film made me a big Aquaman fan and helped me develop an interest in reading his comics.

This is easily my favorite DCEU movie and one of my favorite superhero movies of the last few years. It distinguished itself from the typical Marvel fare as well as the darker, earlier films in the DCEU. I cannot recommend it enough, but only if you go in knowing that it is going to be goofy as hell.

I hate when movies just aren't funny. This was an abhorrent display of "comedy."

I was willing to give this movie a bunch of passes because I enjoy Venom as a character so much. It's a shame that it didn't work as well as I hoped. The plot didn't feature enough connective tissue, the characters were weak, and there wasn't enough Venom. It feels like a serious missed opportunity. If they're lucky enough to make a sequel, maybe it won't be as poorly put together as this one. I'm actually kind of sad about this, the potential was there.

This movie is absolutely gorgeous. Some of the best set design I've seen in years.

Definitely an interesting experience. I watched the Revisited Cut on DVD. Some scenes, I was enthralled. Others, I was not happy with the direction that was taken. Wish there was more emphasis on how brilliant (albeit impulsive) of a military commander Alexander was to balance out who he was as a person. Overall, I did enjoy the movie and will probably watch it again soon, but it could have been more.

Damn, damn good movie. Loved it. One of the most emotional movies I have seen in a long time. Amazing performances, writing, and directing. Honestly, this movie is a little overlooked. Definitely a precursor to themes in The Wire and Straight Outta Compton.

Loved it the first time. Read Film Crit Hulk's examination of the movie and my opinion has changed...unfortunately, the pretentiousness of IƱarritu and the disappointing hollowness of the movie lead it to be good, not great. I highly suggest reading FCH's examination, it's very well done. Birdman is still a fun ride, but I really wish I could dig deeper into it; unfortunately, nothing is there.

One of the greatest movies of all time and one of my favorites. As far as I'm concerned, Lynch's best movie. Everything just clicks for me. The colors, the shot composition, the mood, the humor, and the acting. Holy shit, Naomi Watts gives one of cinema's great performances in this movie. Hard to forget once you see it.

I had such a great time with this movie. Dougherty really knows how to make movies fun, which is something a lot of directors don't know how to do these days. Great creature designs, funny characters, and a creepy atmosphere create a blast of a movie. I'll be watching this every Christmas now.

Love this picture. Feels so much more natural and less contrived than David O. Russell's newer movies. It's consistently funny as well as consistently insightful. Beautifully shot and edited. Honestly, probably the least pretentious of the director's movies that I have seen. Definitely watch this rather than American Hustle or Silver Linings Playbook.

Not sure why it won all the awards. Seemed like a mostly average film. Too long and Gene Kelly was a little annoying. My issue is that there wasn't a good story to connect the songs. Each song came out of nowhere and with little context. Lavishly produced, no doubt, but I had a hard time caring about what was happening. Fairly boring film.

Gorgeous, pure cinema. I would watch it again in a heartbeat. This is the type of movie that all filmmakers should strive to create. One of my all-time favorites now.

Easily one of the defining films of the decade. Still the best movie of 2015 I have seen so far.

The greatest television show of all time. I love The Sopranos but The Wire is just in a class of its own. Probably my favorite work of fiction of all time.

Exists purely to make a profit for the studio. The only reason I enjoyed this was because a group of my friends and I riffed the hell out of this in the theater. Enjoyable because it's awful, but only barely so.

I gave this a 1/10 on IMDb but that was just a rating for the movie. As an experience, I had an absolute blast watching this movie. The audience was getting into it, throwing spoons at the screen, tossing a football, laughing, and quoting dialogue. I had not laughed that hard in such a long time. I was crying multiple times from the laughter of how bad this was. It is definitely worth seeing just watch this amazing train wreck. Definitely recommend it!

Very surprised at all the love this movie is getting. It was good, maybe even just OK. It was built like a classic Scorsese picture, where there is a basic plot outline and then events just kind of happen within the confines of that outline. Each event isn't necessary to the plot. These scenes in between the moments of actual exposition serve character development, but I didn't find myself actually invested in the characters. The performances were good and all, but in the end, I had no sympathy for anybody in the movie because it didn't do a good job of giving me a reason to. Overall, just good. If it wins Best Picture (it will grab a nomination just because it is such a critical darling), then I will have lost all faith in the Oscars, the very little that is left.
