Christophter Nolan fans take note! You will love this film as it stupidly overexplains Every. Single. Thing. Constantly...repeatedly, depressingly. And on top of that it sucks plot hole shit.
I found myself siding with the old timey, conservative, lawyers which was obviously not intended. BB’s annoying, vapid, inconsiderate, heartless, manipulative, simple, and anti-intellectual character annoyed me to no end.
I have seen three film adaptations of this story (two are on the 500<400 list). A good film, but the modified ending of this version weakens the impact.

shapeshift, possess bodies, even one who is immortal. Yet the most important thing preventing you from ruling Japan,
and the driving force of the narrative, is.....cash.

hero one at a time...for some reason.
Also the girl "Ninja" was useless. Her only purpose was to add to the random and pointless gratuitous sex. She
gets raped twice and then with her last deathbed request is denied sex. Sucky life. Because apparently you can't
make most anime without a spoonful of rapey rapey.
Not even logical rape. Like that shadow villain needed to fingerbang the girl to make her into a drone.
Wildly stupid.
I just finished reading the book before watching the film. The book is close to perfect.
This adaptation is the same story, but told flatly and shallowly at 10x speed.
To me it is either a hack commission work that needed to be completed as fast as possible, a spiteful adaptation by those offended by the book, or a film edited by a madman who decided to cut 75% of the film.
