   I can understand its appeal to Indian audiences as it is probably very relatable and a good portrait of someone who beat the system in an honest way. As a film, however, it is far from being a masterpiece and deserving of a place in the top 250. It is overlong and gets intensely boring in the second half. There is a limit to how long you can pay attention to a man studying at a desk.

    for a music doc where none of the band members are interviewed in the same room: it does a great job at establishing their upbringing, chemistry, and their unlikely story of creating a downbeat cult classic. i initially watched it on a whim a decade ago with no knowledge of the band, ultimately drove me into check out their stuff. the funny thing is despite all the answers this doc provides: it just makes the albums conception seem all the more unlikely/out of nowhere. additional points for shedding light on some of the more obscure elements of the late 80s touch and go records/post hardcore scene, it's fairly straightforward and doesn't rely on any fancy tricks or stylistic flourishes to get its point across, works more as character portraits and their dedication to a craft. not sure if it's effective for a casual viewer but for any fan of early 90s alternative music it's worth a watch.
