   felt much more cohesive, with a tighter narrative structure, more believable character motivations, and more fluid pacing, than the original series. clearly a refined second take on the series for anno, now backed with a sufficient budget. 10 years 11 months ago

   It's more for the fans of the anime. Since, this movie and the the three sequels that (will) follow it are a remake of the original anime series. Evangelion has an extremely psychological basis, and it's quite ambiguous and metaphorical. With the original series being confusing enough in itself, this movie makes even less sense to those who have no previous knowledge of it's events, such as fans would.
   
   So. Basically... I'm just saying you might not like it very much unless you're already a fan of the series, or it might not be very understandable unless you've seen the series.
   
   You also have to take into account that this isn't a stand alone movie (though I agree with badblokebob that it works as one), since it will have three succeding sequels. I'm just saying that there will be a lot of unanswered questions. 12 years 11 months ago
