"Paulie may have moved slow but it was only because Paulie didn't have to move for anybody." — Henry

"What did you say? Are you being a fucking wise guy with me? Ha? What did I tell you? What did I tell you? What did I tell you? You don't buy anything, you hear me? Don't buy anything!" — Jimmy
"The fuck you're looking at? Come on, make that coffee to go, let's go! The fuck you doing? It's a joke. A joke! Put the fucking pot down. Are you gonna take the coffee?" — Tommy
Brutal reality of Mafia life. Very explicit, visually and with words. Not something I'm used to watching but I'm glad i did. The iconic actors made it a brilliant movie.
The perfect gangster movie and Martin Scorsese's magnum opus if you ask me. Great actors that were born to play these roles. A greedy irish son of a bitch (Robert de Niro), a rude and borderline psycopathic italian manlet (Joe pesci) and an american lowlife that craves respect in the form of a tuxedo, black shoes and a gun in his pocket (Ray Liotta). Shows the luxury and brutallity of gangster life; in Karen Hill's words:
"I know there are women, like my best friends, who would have gotten out of there the minute their boyfriends gave them a gun to hide. But I didn't. I gotta admit the truth, it turned me on."
Plenty of characters with amazing evolution through the film and great cinematography. I still clench my asshole everytime I remember Robert de Niro making up his mind about killing his own gang while smoking a cigarrette in his black tuxedo, combed back hair and Cream's Sunshine of your love playing in the background, simply perfect.
The cinematography and editing are just stylish. Even though I got Taxi Driver's taste when I watched it for a second time, never got the hype around Scorsese, and now kinda I do.
