I hate this movie and I don't use that word lightly. I don't understand why it is so highly praised, and how on earth is it number 17 on the AFI list?

Sure it broke a lot of new ground in American Cinema but so did Bonnie and Clyde, The Wild Bunch, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid etc. all of which are much better movies than The Graduate.

I enjoyed a lot of aspects of this but I'm not quite sure I understand why people consider it one of the greatest films out there.

Definitely one of the 100 best movies ever. Best one about the 60's music liberty feelings and desires..

I've now seen this movie twice, it really is an excellent movie all around. The shots, the dialogue, the acting, the music... it's all great.

Just hilarious. The shots are perfect and the dialogue is witty but understated. I can't believe it took me so long to finally see this film, but I will certainly watch it now again and again.

deckard.

pure 60s soul. the final shot has the theme: the radiant youth surrounded by the morose old.

but the movie as a whole is not good. it is at best mediocre and feels so inept.

the humor was fine though.

This is a very good film but i wished they just got more into the characters. There are some things they leave in the air and don't truly explain it.

In general, great comedy, loved Hoffman performance.

I saw this movie because of the movie (500) Days of Summer, I did not cry like summer always did, but I loved the story and the main character of Dustin Hoffman, his inocence was what makes the movie funny, the success of this movie has a lot to do with the fantastic music: Sound of Silence
