This movie was amazing. By far the most ambitious project I've ever heard of yet they pull it off almost effortlessly. The moral of the story is beautiful, one that I can appreciate. I think you like this movie if you're a modern thinker, love diversity and appreciate a bit of philosophy in your movie. If you're a negative person naturally and don't like to have to think about a film (and I don't mean this in a mean kind of way): you will hate it probably.
Def not the best Stone movie. It was a good thing to see 1 girl in a relationship with 2 guys, I can't remember EVER seeing that. Mostly it's 1 guy with 2 girls (and they're only ever portrayed as 'bodies' rather than people). Too bad they made her call herself a slut for it. But it was a bit long and at some point it does rely on stereotypes (both gender and racial). Plot twist was terrible.
Worst script ever, way too many characters, not enough development, it never really gets scary. And visually it's not always really beautiful, sometimes it's blurry and messy. We can do better in 2012. Don't waste your time...
Cruise surprised me. I was a bit confused as to why they would put Cruise in this movie, but he kind of blew me away. His sexiest and funniest role ever, perhaps! At least the best performance in years. If you love classic rock music, you'll enjoy this musical a lot!
I wish they took a lil more time to make the viewer understand the characters better. It's a beautiful film though. Haunting I would say. But this is a love it or hate it movie. As always with Von Trier films.
I thought it was a very refreshing take on alien movies. It felt very modern. A lot of movies seem to be trying too hard nowadays. It's a LOT better than most movies we've seen so far in 2011. (most, not all, there have been better movies too).
Don't know why people say it's a bad movie. even this tough movie critic (Dutch, strong preference for French drama's) gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Agree with the Wolverine cameo, LOL!
