As someone who had never read the novel I went into this movie thinking it would be a certain way based off of what the marketing had put out into the world and I have to say that this is much better than any of the trailers would lead you to believe. It's not the best movie but it was emotional and had some amazing performances.
So moving. It evoked such emotion that I found myself crying not because I was sad but because I felt the beauty of this film so deeply. Spike Jonze did a breathtaking job.
I have a problem with most of the comments saying they didn't like the movie because the characters didn't evolve or weren't likable. Guess what, that was the point. Characters don't have to be likable or evolve for a movie to make it's point and still be enjoyable. I really liked it and it gave an in depth look at how even the "normal" people can still lack depth just like the celebs can.
By far the worst adaptation of a literary piece of work that I've ever seen. Every one (including two of the greatest actors I've seen) overacted their parts to a point that was comical. Many people in my screening laughed at parts that should have never been funny. The director made a joke out of one of the greatest tragedies ever written and while I'm scared that it was intended I'm even more scared to think that it wasn't. Don't waste your money or just go to your local dollar theater if it means that much to you.
I don't know what would be implausible about this movie but anyway the only thing worth watching is Zoe's performance. I loved her character I just don't think they could really do what they wanted with this movie in the time slot they had.
I've been saying for a long time now that I wanted a horror movie that actually left me feeling scared. And finally I got one. It gets cheesy at times but I still didn't want to be left alone in the theater when it ended! The directing is amazing and the soundtrack is perfect! I think people expect something that they've never seen before but I feel like this is a great classic ghost story. A definite must see!
Definitely a must watch! Cagney's performance is definitely amazing. This is such a fun movie that I got in to immediately. My grandfather would sing "Over There" all the time and this brought back some great memories of him :)
I love baseball so baseball related movies always get me. This one didn't disappoint. The chemistry between all of the actors was spot on. Very enjoyable.
I went in with really low expectations because of what I've heard but I was surprised by how much I liked it. It was slow at parts but it took a turn that I didn't actually expect and I liked that about it.
Extremely artful beautiful film. It's definitely not one of my favorites but I do love Steve McQueen's style. The score fits in so well with the long periods of silence from the characters.
Despite what everyone has been saying about this film I did enjoy it. There wasn't as much character development as I would have liked (except for Lizzy Caplan's character who seemed to have the most despite Dunst being the "main" character).
A good ode to old gangster films but most of the relationships between each character were never fully developed and, for example, the chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone's characters got lost and was almost boring to watch. I think the trailers make everyone think it'll be more about those two within the dealings of this mob boss but it really isn't.
My photography professor/boss was the cinematographer on this movie and I really can't even. It's so bad that it's good (but then goes back to bad again).
It's a shame to see such a great fantastic cast be given such a horrible script. This had a lot of potential but never lived up to it. Hopefully Gina can show her fighting and acting skills in a better movie soon.

Surprisingly good. A bit overacted by the main two and the dialogue was a bit forced but other than that I found it quite enjoyable!Movie comment on Gangster Squad
