1. Two main uses in my case: keeping a record of films I’ve watched and discovering new titles to watch (by following a few reference lists); now and then I also enjoy the competitive side of it.
2. Suggestions I’ve had in mind lately, some of them for quite a time: a. choose main language/location for a.k.a. titles because it is not English that I find when I go to the shop, library or TV guide, b. instant update of awards and rankings, c. remember ordering in lists, d. hide from public all those duplicate and personal lists that are worthless to anyone but their own creators and make difficult to find the useful ones, e. choose homepage (my profile, progress, friends activity, etc.), f. mark official lists that have been recently updated (perhaps we don’t need to update IMDB lists twice a week) and, of course, g. more official lists.
3. I seldom or never use: owned movies, neighbours, groups, facebook/twitter integration, IMDB import, signatures, memos, past versions of lists or recommend films to others. Roadmap has become rather vague or even pointless since the introduction of Trello boards. On the other hand I’d like to see removed: a. TV shows to reduce clutter and save resources and b. IMDB rating and votes fields since most of the times they are actually not displayed and because there’s more to iCM than IMDB.

You should give more information to the movies.

At first, I'm glad you put back the old profile. I don't like timeline... thanks
1) I use it to keep track of my checks and like to see personal lists (filmography and tematic one). I don't look for new films here.
2) search by director or actor would be fine, but I use IMDb and it's not bad.
3) I don't like timeline, I don't use the watchlist, but it doesn't bother me, it's not at the front door!

Feedback:
1) Please separate TV series from films
2) Unchecked movies- page selection is difficult to navigate back to where I left off. Possibly the ability to manually put in the page number.
3) Wishlist- ability to sort by date added so I can highlight only the latest entries to export.
OOPS I found how to do it. My bad :)

Just a few and I love the site.

I use it mostly to keep track of the movies I’ve seen. I rarely use it to discover new movies (there are many other sources for that, and they are more in-depth than iCM), but I use it to choose which movie I should see among the ones I own and have not seen yet (example: I have X, Y and Z in my watchlist and DVD library, but Y is in more toplists than X and Z, so I’ll watch Y tonight).

A way to discover new lists would be great. There are 2429 personal lists at the moment and the only way to browse them is looking through dozens of pages. For example, it would be nice to have a page with all the “upcoming” lists, i.e. that are collecting more favorites than usual in these days.

Also, the recommendations tend to favor movies that are already popular. For example, “Fight Club” is at the top of my recommended movies, but it’s also the most favorited movie ever. I would like that movies that are unusually (i.e. more than average) favorited by my neighbors also show up in my “recommended” list.

TV movies and episodes, for example. Also, I don’t find the activity feed useful – but it doesn’t hurt either.

1. For the main part, to keep track of what I've seen already. For the second part, finding other stuff worth checking out (through lists mostly).

2. When viewing a movie, I would want the reviews of friends on top or highlighted. Also to see who has already seen it(without a review).

Displaying imdb rating next to it would come in handy (cause I always clickthrough for it).

Customizing your profile maybe? I have almost no lists, nor do I keep track of 'owned' movies, so it's wasted space.

Very important imo: sharing lists to people who aren't on ICM, without having to set to public. If I set my list to public, I get negative votes because it's a personal list of recommendations and noone knows me. Maybe remove the part of negative votes and only positive ones? 0 is your starting score and you can't go under that.

Customized friend feed? I've friended some people I don't really know, but I might want to check out from time to time. But I don't want to see every check

3. TV-shows. This is not the place for it imo. I use Followmytv for it. Groups don't do much for me neither...

I use the website to keep track of all the movies i have already seen, as well as the movies that i'm interested in, but havent seen yet. in that sense, it is a phenomenal service, but i find it hard to find new movies on the site because i have to click away to IMDB every time i wnat to find anything out. My sugestion would be to display IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes ratings, as well as the parental sugestion from common sense media without clicking the movie. and once the movie is clicked, display IMDB description, as well as a link to IMDB, Rotten tomatoes, and Common sense Media.

The only person who could make a three hour 'short' is Bela Tarr!

I use it to keep track of what movies I have seen, and what movies I want to see (the latter using both the movie watchlist and the list watchlist).

2. What parts of the website should be improved, and why? If you also have a suggestion on how we should improve it, please let us know!

Categorization and tagging of personal lists could definitely be improved. I still think that it doesn't work properly if you leave these only to the lists' owners. As soon as someone doesn't put their list in the right category, the whole feature becomes if not useless then at least flawed. (If all lists were categorized properly, it'd also be much easier to hide personal lists (e.g. "films I watched in 2012") that bother so many people. But currently, the "perosnal lists" category doubles as a category for uncategorized lists -- this could also be improved if users had to choose a category when they create a list, instead of having to go back afterwards (many people seem to be unaware of the fact that they can change the list's category in the info tab))
I'd also like to be able to "subscribe" to a list's discussion, so that I'd be notified when a comment is made (as it's already possible for list owners).
And then there are some minor things, like adding a "quote" button next to a comment so you don't have to manually copy it when you quote someone.

I don't see the point of having groups. A regular forum might be better. And I personally don't care about the user ranking. Watching movies isn't a competition to me, so I don't use the ranking (or watch certain movies specifically to rise there).
I don't mind having those features, though. I just don't use them.

1. What do you use iCheckMovies for? I look at my unchecked movies, ordered by # of official toplists. This is an excellent resource of what films I should be watching. Buried treasures. Sometimes I've never even heard of the film, and often I end up watching the best films this way.

2. What parts of the website should be improved, and why? If you also have a suggestion on how we should improve it, please let us know!
I love that you added more lists. I would keep doing that. The more official top lists that aren't personal checklists of director/actor filmographys the better.

My top complaint is that there is any television included. iCheckMovies should be exclusively devoted to checking movies. The long pages of numerous television episodes are just clutter.

This might seem slightly off-topic, but...

one thing I really like about a similar media-tracking site, rateyourmusic, is their "RYMzilla" feature which allows for users to be directly involved with the technical improvements of the site. Food for thought anyway.

Integrate iCheck with Netflix, so that you can add films to your queue, or watch it instantly. a Best of Netflix Streaming website has such a feature.

1. What do you use iCheckMovies for? Do you only use it to keep track of your checks, or do you mainly use the website to find new movies, etc.

I use it for both. I've watched several movies because it's on a list of interest to me, and then if that movie is on multiple lists, it gets checked on each list. Being able to download the list is good, too.

2. What parts of the website should be improved, and why?

A) Making lists can be really tedious if it's not on IMDB. Wiki has lists. You should be able to upload a list from different websites, and iCheck should be able to figure out what you're trying to do. In other words, iCheck is too dependent on IMDB.

B) The rating system for movies is primitive. While a thumbs up/thumbs down for lists is fine, but movies are a different story. Captain America was OK, Iron Man was Good, The Dark Knight was great. It's hard to give Captain America and The Dark Knight the same grade.

C) Platinum Awards looks too much like Silver Awards. Can you give the awards some kind of sparkling effect, instead of just plain icons?

D) Short films should only count for half. There's a world of difference between a three hour epic and a three hour short. Further, I don't understand why TV shows and cartoons are listed. That should be a separate iCheck site.

IMDb - which iCM's movies are sourced from - is the "Internet Movie Database," but that doesn't stop them from including TV shows. I don't necessarily check shows myself, but it doesn't hurt to have them on here, and I think it's fair if people have particular favorite episodes and want to catalogue it.
