    Hello,
As the name suggests, this film is entirely set in a big city, where a common man struggles meeting end. And eventually you will see the woman is also part of the struggle, not only as domestic ones. Try to watch this in good quality available, otherwise there is chance to miss Subrata Mitra's cinematography properly. Again, we should not dissect every department, but Dulal Dutta's editing and Banshi Chandragupta's art direction should get special mention for this film which is mostly shot indoor with many moods over the time of the events. While going with the story, you will see that the struggle is not only for the individuals, but for the entire family stuck in a city's clockwork and need. You might say value and sentiment is one of the driving force of this movie which cannot be understood from a different time. That is true, and having said that, the reality was like this that time I believe. Even though if this was dated by the standard of Ray's work, that might be because of a older literary material. It is interesting like geometry dash scratch. You will find the theme is much latter works of other people [i can remember the part directed by Nandita Sen in 'I Am' anthology film.
