@George Bailey, Yeah musicals are actually starting to grow on me, it's funny that theres some genres that you sort of dread watching but then you end up finding some great films in that style that you wouldn't usually try. It's always a good surprise.
I've been doing this list for a while now... it is frustrating as it is constantly changed. The key is to skip movies from the past five years and avoid the bottom 20 until last. Otherwise it is a decent list, comparable to Reddit's.
Well, you can argue two ways about that. You can say, "Objectivity is impossible, so it is impossible to say whether a film is objectively good." Or you can say, "'Good' is inherently subjective, therefore a film cannot be objectively good".
Really though, I think we mean "objective" in a loose sense, so we can ignore the first argument. By objective, we usually mean "measurable" or "quantifiable". The problem is that the term "good" is very poorly defined. Because of that, it's difficult to argue about the statement "No film is objectively good". It depends on how we formulate "good".
If good simply means "I like it", then yeah, good is subjective, and no film is objectively good.

Yeah I find westerns a challenge to watch myself, although I thought Once Upon a Time in the West was great, maybe because I'm a fan of Henry Fonda.biggianthead

What an objectively bad argument Homage. Well maybe not objectively but logically bad.Homage
Seriously? "Objective" versus "Subjective" quality? Just ask Immanuel Kant or Roger Ebert, then turn 20 and get to the interesting stuff.naikou
