Really fell for the infectious Rockwellian nostalgia infused in this documentary. It's hard not to feel the passion for the storied pastime with so many personalities extolling their love for the game. Plus, its just so damn long, in a good way because its loaded with interesting tidbits.
Also, I don't think the documentary is remiss for focusing primarily on the American baseball experience. Its Ken Burns after all, his forte is Americana. The game definitely has European roots and is played across the globe, but baseball as we know it is a North American invention and a story intertwined with the United States.
Incredibly sentimental, almost to a fault, but still one of the most comprehensive and compelling depictions of the war to date. Happy to see it on some lists here.
A truly gut wrenching documentary. Its hard to watch film that puts you in the shoes of all the other onlookers, watching trainers die and helpless to do anything. Agreed, never going to SeaWorld again.
Occasionally intriguing, frequently offensive, but mostly just filled with fabrications and fear mongering mania. I'm not even sure if this documentary should be taken seriously, or seen as a satire of our conspiracy obsessed culture. I hope its the latter. As it stands this is a very unintelligent presentation that mostly uses lies and conjecture in lieu of proper evidence. Peter Joseph addresses topics genuinely deserving of critical analysis, but with his own preconceived fictions he's willing to fill in whatever it takes to connect the dots.
Choisai said it. It's now just abundantly clear that America hates and fears its cities. We must now celebrate their utter destruction in every single blockbuster on a yearly basis.
These superhero movies are starting to feel less heroic when we have to see major metropolitan areas obliterated and millions of people killed. And for gods sake, those poor clean up crews in New York/Gotham/Metropolis must never get a break.
Yup, too bad all us Americans are incapable of feeling emotions. Thanks for pointing out the hollowness of my soul as the reason this one doesn't quite click for me.
What vague impression I had of Timothy as a martyr for environmentalism was certainly dispelled by this documentary. He absolutely comes across as naive, obsessive, borderline mentally disabled, and bizarrely hate filled for all his supposed devotion to peace and harmony. Have to respect his passion and his willingness to "fight" for animal protection, though his presence seemed to accomplish little and he paid the price for his disconnect from reality.
You know, I'm curious if majron is some genius at locating obscure shorts, or if he just checked a whole bunch of these just for the hell of it. Of course I'd put money on it being the ladder.
