I have to disagree with you there Mightyspark, people like your good self may describe the list artsy because, as you see it as a list that describes 'movies that primarily focus on artistic quality rather than entertainment.' but clearly that wasn't how people were using the term in this comment section, it was used in a derogatory fashion, terming artsy as somehow snobbish and elitist and anyone that likes this list as the same.
I tend to agree with Wise Jake on the word artsy, when he states that it really doesn't mean anything, you either like these films or you don't.
It was also rather unfair, and a bit blinkered of you to castigate anyone that sees this list as more entertaining than yourself, could I suggest that says something more about yourself rather than the people you judge? I'm thoroughly entertained by these films, some of them more than others, some of them require more concentration, others are frivolous, others are funny, others are just plain awful but the majority are brilliant. How on earth is discovering different cultures, eras, directors, genres and actors not entertaining?
I doubt many directors get a personal thrill out of making a film, as you put it, that is 'more focused on objective and technical qualities rather than popcorn factors'. Where's the fun in that? If that's what you're seeing in these films and you're just going through them as to tick them off, then can I suggest your heart really isn't in it?
The new one is now updated at the website, not as many changes as last year, as to be expected I suppose, and I haven't worked out if I'm up or down from last years.
I'm up 4 on the new update. I like a lot of the new additions. Particularly in regards to some of the newer films like There Will Be Blood (one of my favorite films), and Tree of Life.

The best list of all, so complete and accurate.rehimmel
Is this official as of 2022? The TSPDT site doesn't seem to be updated yet. And this list doesn't have any films after 2017.But it is different from prior versions.
Thanks

A reminder that TSPDT updated yesterdayKnaldskalle
@Wloper: Some movies have multiple entries on IMDb but only one on TSPDT.Histoire(s) du Cinema e.g. has 8 entries on IMDb, since it's in 8 parts, but TSPDT counts it as one.

I know the year is only 10 days old but come on already, we want the new list. The website says sometime in Jan/Feb, so I expect we'll be waiting a fair few weeks longer.
Hurumph.

Some great additions. Better than the last update, in my opinion. I'm glad to see three more Portuguese films in the list. Also, I'm up by 17 films, which is always a plus.
